I’m not aware of any defects. I could, however, not test the function of the disk drive. I can’t guarantee that it works. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The DC - Digital Grand is a fantastic digital ensemble, which combines the modern requirements musicians have concerning the NIDI with a high-quality reproduction of the piano voicing. Thanks to the very real sound of this piano, the DG1 can be a valid replacement for a traditional piano, plus, it has the great advantages that are incorporated, you can even play it at night with headphones, without disturbing anyone. The possibilities which the DG1 offers are great, because the instrument can upload sounds from records, drum grooves, styles, programs and MIDI backing on its general MIDI. Furthermore, it offers the possibility to connect a microphone and to sing along while reading the lyrics on the display of the DG1, this is a new, fun, and exciting trend for home entertainment. KEYBOARD The DG1 has a weighted keyboard with 88 keys and 4 velocity curves: Soft, medium, hard, no velocity. The key response has been adjusted exactly, so that the player has the sensation of playing on an actual wooden piano keyboard. It also has other controls for the keyboard: bend (or modulation), wheel, portamento, global transposer, octave down, split and Arabic scale. ORCHESTRAL PARTS The excellent sound reproduction of the DC1 includes a variety of orchestral parts, they are subdivided into 16 families according to GM standards. The voices have been programmed via pulse code modulation (PCM), trying to reproduce the natural feeling and playing techniques which are typical for each instrument. The piano sound, for example, was taken from a prestigious concert GRAND piano with a demanding multi sampling technique, and the original ”hammer” keys were memorised for the whole keyboard range. 128 USER VOICES The internal voices of the DG1 can be edited via the parameters attack, decay, release, cut off, resonance, tune, octave and modulation. The user voices can be saved on the 128 internal memory locations or an the hard drive, and when you are in play mode, exactly those standard preset voices will be available, and they offer alternative sounds for new programs or registrations. 12 PERCUSSION SOUNDS The DG1 is equipped with 11 preset drum sets and one user drum set, which allows the payer ti create a completely new drum set according to their own taste. The user drum set is also used for attribution of the drums in the MS5, MS4 and MS3 music titles. The percussion instruments are divided into 7 groups: Bass drum, snare drum, hi hat, cymbals, toms, hi Latin and lo Latin. Each group has an independent volume, reverb, and pan pot control, and they can be included or excluded during playback with an on/off switch. VI I VIDEO INTERFACE - KARAOKE In order to meet the requirements of public and private entertainment, the DG1 can be connected to a normal TV set via the optional VI I VIDEO INTERFACE. You can see the title of the song and the lyrics on the screen (they change colours while the song is playing) as well as the name of the chord, which will automatically adapt if the song has been transposed. It is also possible to switch off the lead line (LEAD OFF) and the lyrics (LYRIC OFF) as well as the transposition of a MIDI song, so that the keyboard is tuned in the standard way. You can achieve a perfect balance of the backing part and the part which is played live (RIGHT) by damping the overall volume of the backing with the drums with the - / + volume keys. All general MIDI parameters of the song can be edited, they are provided in the keys (volume, program change, effects, shift, pan pot, MIDI channel), the variations can be saved within one registry. It is possible to “book” the next track during the playback of a MIDI song with the NEXT fun, a chain of a maximum of 32 songs can be programmed for non stop live continuous playback. PROGRAMS The programs are a combination of 2 or more keyboard voices (maximum of 4), the parameters volume, chorus, reverb, octave shift, detune, pan pot and sustain on / off can be controlled. You can create especially rich and interesting effects by layering the voices in different key ranges - this can be done with the PATCH mode, or dynamically with the keyboard and the VELOCITY SWITCH function. The instrument also offers DUET and TRIO harmonising effects, as well as the possibility to reload the original programs (RELOAD). When the keyboard is separated in to two sections, the arranger section can be attributed with several voices (e.g. backing effects) and others can be attributed to the solo segment via 4 programmable split zones. GENERAL MIDI The general MIDI standard with 16 MIDI parts and 16 separate MIDI channels is active in the DG1. All sounds have a range of 88 notes with 28 note global polyphony. Each MIDI song or standard MIDI file which is programmed according to the general MIDI protocol can be read and played back by the built-in hard drive.
