Bernard Bloch and Grumbach - Pair of Art Nouveau figural vases

Pair of huge Art Nouveau Figural Vases by Bernard Bloch and Grumbach, Circa 1900 Teplitz. Monumental circa 1900 Art Nouveau figural earthenware vases by Austrian pottery and porcelain manufacturer Bernard Bloch. Highly stylized design and form. The vases are in organic floriform shape and medium blue glossy glaze with a matte accent wash that features a beautifully detailed, high relief full figure of a woman with long blond hair in natural colors. Markings include the name of the designer “Grumbach” under the glaze near the bottom edge; impressed markings on the base are “BB”, “3777” for the first and "3778" for the second Vase, and two other small figures (a circle with a dot, and a smaller letter “B”) The only damage I can see is a little chip missing at the back side of the vase "3778". Otherwise this gorgeous vases are in very good condition with no breaks ore repairs. The vases stands 52,5 cm tall with a base of 27,5 cm by 19,5 cm and weighs 2,5 kg each. Please see photos for more information about the condition of this gorgeous pieces, you can not been able to find on line any other examples of this outstanding Bernard Bloch/Grumbach vase design. Historical: In 1864, Anton Tschinkel founded a majolica factory in Dubi a small town located 4 km north of Teplice. In 1874, she began the manufacture of porcelain. After the crisis of the 1880s, the factory was bought by Teichert from Meissen. In 1895, the factory was again ceded to Bernhard Bloch who will develop it and make it one of the most important factories in the country. The pieces are engraved with the initials BB or the name Eichwald, according to whether they are in earthenware majolica or majolica. It is confiscated by the Nazis in 1939, then nationalized in 1947. It is still active. The forms of faience Bernhard Bloch are very marked by the aesthetics of Art Nouveau. They opt for greater simplification than Amphora or Royal Dux. The repertoire of colors is quite limited: ocher, green, gray-blue, cream. The majolica, signed (sometimes) Eichwald, are of very high quality. The shapes are often very complex with curves and counter-curves. There are table stools decorated with conchs, boats, naiads, cherubs, in a resolutely Baroque spirit. Naturally, it will be very well packaged and shipped by registered post. Any import costs are the buyer's responsibility.
