Specialists distinguish five Gallé-periods: the first period is the “transparent” period,
from 1874 to 1884, with transparent glass and barely visible, sometimes non-existent signatures
This period was followed by the “Opaque” period from 1884 to 1890 inspired by plants and recognisable by its thick glass pasta and exuberant signatures
The "Arabesque" - period from 1890 too 1893 showed a simpler decor of flowers, animals or Japanese landscapes with opal glass. Unique models were madenext to mass production
Items form the first category were signed by hand, the second ones have acid-formed initials, the same as the the word “Cristallerie”
When Gallé died in 1904, the production increased while creations almost didn’t exist Eventually the factory, which was taken over by family, started with mass production in 193, recognisable by a signature accompanied by a cross
