1990, the Netherlands
The design from 1990 seems to be timeless, because there is a persistent demand for this article.
Therefore I have decided to reapply the techniques I learned to make another minor series of these objects for future auctions.
This geometrical art object consists of 12 brushed stainless steel 316 balls, which make it suitable for indoor as well as outdoor use.
Via consecutive production steps in various moulds with certain connection techniques and a lot of patience, the balls are symmetrically joined together, becoming a strongly constructed frame, with an open space in the middle for the light source.
That's the snag of this work of art: if 1 ball isn't exactly in the right place, then the rest will not fit and the construction process can not be finished.
Each stainless steel ball is in the same position from every angle, the brushed structure is always pointed in the same direction.
This makes the object fascinating on the one hand, and on the other it has a quality of restful unity.
The symmetrical shape corresponds to the "small" diamond-carbon atom, but is 63 cm high in this case.
It comes with a low-energy LED lamp for atmospheric lighting indoors.
The weather-proof stainless steel can also take a high-wattage lamp for creating "radiant" garden lighting.
The original and protected type from 1990 and has a fixed reserve price of €850 and comes with a signed certificate.
