The Hanukkah menorah is the nine-branched candelabrum that is used at the Jewish Festival Hanukkah. This copper lamp has nine ‘burners’ that need to be filled with oil. The eight lower burners are lit with the fire of the ‘servant candle’ that is located at the top of the candle holder and can be folded away. The Hanukkah menorah must be suitable for celebrating Hanukkah. That means that it should hold 8 candles, plus 1 (the shamash), that distinguishes itself somewhat by its placement. Like Hanukkah menorah, several antique models can be found in the Jewish historical museum Amsterdam, the Netherlands, and ‘collectie nederland’.
