Frisian chair clock - one hand - Period: 1st half 18th century

Beautiful very old Frisian chair clock from the 1st half of the 18th century with a neat paint job from the period. It is a rare, one hand clock with only one hour hand, only the earliest chair clocks have this type of movement. This clock is in a good condition, the movement and chair are authentic and have always been together. The movement is of solid quality and functions well. The top lead represents 2 lions holding a coat of arms flanked by two women on an ox. The dial is in good condition, no paint peeling off or significant damage, the markers have probably been repainted once, which is not surprising after about 300 years. The timepiece is a verge escapement timepiece with a striking mechanism on the whole and half hours, it is a 30-hour timepiece, which, depending on the suspension height of the clock, will have to be wound up one or more times a day. The clockwork is in a good condition and has recently been ultrasonically cleaned, checked and serviced, it runs and strikes as it should. The chair of the clock, flanked on both sides by mermaids, belongs to the clock and is also in a good condition, but does have old-age traces. Measurements: Height 62 cm. Width: 34.5 cm Depth: 25 cm. The photos are part of the description. Due to the vulnerability of this lot, it is pick-up only. Shipping can be done in consultation but is certainly not preferable given the vulnerability of the clock.
