Casque de plongée - Bronze - Première moitié du 19ème siècle
An authentic diving helmet, still wearing the signs of ageing. A striking item both for its historical interest and for the thoughts of adventure and courage that it can evoke.
It was certainly not easy to develop such equipment, which saw the light towards the end of the 18th century. Using this equipment meant not only relying on technologies not yet perfected, but also putting one's life in the hands of the people on the surface, on which the supply of air depended.
This helmet comes from Japan, it dates back to the Second World War and was produced by the company TOA (founded in Tokyo in 1909) which mainly produced 2 types of helmets: the 8 and the 12 pins one. Here we have the largest model, the 12-pin helmet, and it still has 7 original butterfly clasps. Signs of the contours are still visible in the space of the company's plate.
