Nozeman en Sepp - Nederlandsche Vogelen - 2014
The facsimile XXL edition of Nozeman & Sepp.
“Nederlandsche Vogelen” is the standard work on the avifauna of the Netherlands and is one of the most beautiful and most expensive works in the history of our book printing.
This work by Nozeman and Sepp was originally published in five volumes between 1770 and 1829. It was re-released in 2014 in one volume, supplemented with an introduction and index of historical and modern bird names.
The five volumes contain 250 beautiful together, originally hand-coloured engravings that depicts the birds as much as possible on natural size, often with their feathered partner and sometimes with nest and eggs. The engravings were taken care of by the Amsterdam amateur biologist Christiaan Sepp and later by his son and grandson.
Cornelis Nozeman, a remonstrant minister provided the texts for each bird. He was undoubtedly one of the greatest ornithologists of his time.
