Coucou de la Forêt Noire - Johann Baptist Beha - Bois, ébène - 1865
This is a wonderful piece for on the wall. The cuckoo clock has a well-working movement with a beautiful ticking and cuckooing sound. Cleaning is advised. Sometimes the clock goes idle after some hours. It has accumulated some minor traces of age over its 154-year existence. For example, the roof has once been reinforced and the pendulum balanced. Thanks to this the clock still hangs firmly and swings smoothly. This hand-carved and rare clock looks truly wonderful on the wall.
Johann Baptist Beha lived from 1815 to 1898. He was educated by his father, the master clockmaker Vincenz Beha (1784–1868). Their clockmaker business was located in the Eisenbacher Zinken, the hamlet of Harzerhausen auf dem Hoechst (Black Forest). The Beha clan designed and built the first Fuse, the first of the heavy brass and cast-iron dial clocks of excellent quality.
The clock will be packaged with the utmost are and sent by registered post.
