Very beautiful and complete collection of prints by Pieter Bruegel, also known as the “Peasant Bruegel”. He was born between 1525/1530, presumably in Breda or Bruegel, and died in Brussels on 9/9/1569. He is best known for his landscapes and genre paintings populated by peasants. 95 prints of Pieter Bruegel in hardcover portfolio, in absolute mint condition. The prints are from burin engravings and etchings. These prints have never been really unpacked, only for checking the contents and taking pictures for the auction. The prints measure 51 × 38 cm. This edition was compiled in celebration of the 400th anniversary of the death of the artist in 1569. A beautiful and now rare portfolio in exceptionally good condition.
